Making Lawyers Look Even Worse

We all joke about lawyers. Until we need one, that is. Maybe, somewhere deep in our sub-conscious, an inner voice tells us we should revere lawyers for their quick thinking and mastery of conversation. Maybe, somewhere even deeper, we are jealous of lawyers for all of the power they can amass and money they make. And maybe, even deeper in the regions we don’t talk about at parties, we know that they are just as evil and full of crap as we think they are.
And maybe certain lawyers fit into certain categories I haven’t listed here. Some of them are good people who help you in your time of need. They do exist, as there is always good and bad to every profession. Unfortuantely for all lawyers, they have to claim former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards as one of their own.
John Edwards remarked to the Associated Press today (in a story by Beth Fouhy) that there is no such thing as the war on terror. He went on to say, “”We need a post-Bush, post-9/11, post-Iraq military that is mission focused on protecting Americans from 21st century threats, not misused for discredited ideological purposes,” Edwards said in remarks prepared for delivery. “By framing this as a war, we have walked right into the trap the terrorists have set—that we are engaged in some kind of clash of civilizations and a war on Islam.”"
Later that day, a story reported by ABC’s The Blotter showed new Al-Queda tapes that depicts the Capital building in Washington DC under attack. Another video annouces the “…holocaust of the Americans…”. Luckily, with John Edwards at the helm, we won’t bother fighting these people. After all, how dangerous could they really be. President Bush and those dirty Republicans just hate Muslims and are a bunch of bigots – it’s that easy.
How much more proof do you need that Islamo-fascism is the enemy of all free and thinking people? How could being pro-active in destroying Radical Islam and everything it stands for not protect Americans from 21st century threats? Are there any bigger threats to the world in this century? (Sorry, global warming doesn’t even rank!) And, as I now understand the sickness of Radical Islam, it’s not ok to make a cartoon of Mohammed, but it’s acceptable to make videos showing an attack on the US Capital? Sorry, that’s far worse than any cartoon.
John Edwards makes lawyers and liberals look like fools. Ok, I admit its not tough to make liberals look bad…but the lawyers don’t need any more help in this area, either.
Enjoy.
Carthago Delenda Est!
I am John Doe.

Tony:
First time commenting. Just one quick comment. There is nothing implicated in his statement about his legal training. His work in the Senate, although I agree is ideologically flawed, has nothing to do with him being a lawyer. There are good and bad with all professions, and yes, attorneys certainly have a reputation of leading the pack. However, he was not acting as a lawyer. He was acting as a politician interested in cowering from a true and real threat.
Just weighing in.

Hey now, I’m a liberal …but shhhh dont’ tell anyone
It’s a shame that an entire profession will be painted with the same brush based on the actions of a few moronic individuals !
