The Ridiculous Doctrine

Sen. Feinstein (D-CA), in an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, spoke about the need to reintroduce the Fairness Doctrine. Just earlier today, we learned that Sen. Kerry (D-MA…and a Vietnam Vet if you didn’t know!) also believes in the return of the Fairness Doctrine.
The Fairness Doctrine ran far and wide in America. From the late 1940’s through 1987, the Fairness Doctrine – create by the Federal Communications Commission – set out to try and create a balanced approach to the news and opinion that was delivered. It was repealed in 1987 by the FCC, as they then believed that the doctrine was holding back honest discourse. Took only 35+ years to come to their senses.
And now, 20 years later, how in the world can anyone think that there is not a fair and honest discourse going on everywhere. Media is everywhere – newspapers, television, radio, Internet. And, is there any doubt that liberal bias is alive and thriving in newspapers and television? New York Times, Los Angeles Times, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS? And on the Internet, what about Daily Kos, Moveon.org, HuffingtonPost, anything written by Rosie O’Donnell?
There are convservative voices…..or, more to the point, less liberal voices. Fox News is one of them, and they get lambasted daily by the Main Stream Media that they are unfair and unbalanced and they should be removed from the airwaves. Leftists think columnists and bloggers like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin are hate mongerers. But radio offers a far more interesting kunumdrum.
Radio…talk radio, offers a chance for opinion and debate. And, when given the chance to make the choice, the citizens gravitate to talk and opinion that is conservative in nature. This is what drives leftists and Democrats to the brink of total insantiy. It proves that when given a choice, the people want to listen to and interact with people who are hopeful, upbeat, positive. They choose a message that resonates with them. And that message, overwhelmingly, is a conservative message.
The Fairness Doctrine is about liberals forcing their will upon the citizens and inhibiting free speech. Its about their message being the only message and never allowing the people a chance to use their own minds to make their own decisions. It’s just ironic that the only choice leftists are ever in favor of is abortion. You choosing your own radio station, however, is beyond the pale.
Enjoy the video.
